Where is the ceremony taking place?
The ceremony will be held at The Halfway House at 1138 Flagstaff Road, a Boulder open space. This "halfway house" is a historic stone/wooden cabin nestled in the beautiful Boulder foothills. The ceremony itself will take place outside, but we do have access to the cabin if we need it for weather reasons.
What about the reception?
Just 6 minutes from the ceremony is a small cottage we've reserved in the Colorado Chautauqua for the reception. This cottage will feel like a cozy little house party.
If you'd like to stay in a nearby cottage, there are still some studios, one bedrooms and two bedrooms available as of 7/31/25, as well as rooms at the Columbine Lodge. Check it out here: https://www.chautauqua.com/cottages-and-lodges/
If you do stay in a nearby cottage, there are beautiful trailheads right by, as well as the historic Chautauqua Dining Hall just 3 minutes away from all of the cottages.
Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?
The ceremony will be outdoors (weather permitting) and the reception will be inside of a cottage which is a 6 minute drive away. Don’t forget sunscreen or a light jacket, and if you will need to walk down the trail to use the restroom before we get to the cottage, make sure to wear shoes with enough traction for walking on dirt and pebbles.
What is the weather going to be like?
Historically, September weather in Boulder is 70s-80s until sundown, usually a bit overcast, and dry. After the sun goes down, around 6:45pm, it goes down into the 50s/60s.
How far of a walk is it from the parking lot?
From the parking lot to the ceremony seating area is only about a 20 second walk! It's very convenient and accessible.
What’s the terrain like? Should I wear certain shoes?
The area is mostly flat with a gravel and dirt path, but we recommend comfortable shoes or block heels—no stilettos! The walk to the ceremony site is short but natural. There will be an on-site porta-potty, but there's also a brick and mortar bathroom that's down a gravel/dirt path, so if you feel you will need to use that, wear comfortable enough shoes for your needs.
Are there restrooms?
For the ceremony, there is a public park restroom that is about a 2-3 minute walk down the tail. Unfortunately, that is the closest restroom. Prepare yourself before arriving if possible! This is actually why we chose not to do the reception at the same place. So take comfort in the fact that you will get to use a restroom soon, at the cottage for the reception :)
